Hey all, Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
At the time of this writing it’s a week before Christmas and uptown is a madhouse with holiday shoppers. I am glad to be a part of Hampton Rod and Gun to be able to sit quietly and write. As most all our members know we here take a great deal of pride in our club, not only in its country club appearance but in activities as well. Our board of directors spend countless hours with new ideas and projects to make our little piece of heaven a pleasure to be part of.
Winter can be a boring time of year but that’s no excuse to put the firearms or compound bows away until warmer weather comes back. We keep our ranges clear of ice and snow and the pistol house is well heated. If your wish is to stay competitive for either competition, hunting, or personnel gratification you have to stay on top of your game with practice. This is especially true to you archery people. It drives me nuts to see bow hunters break out their gear weeks before the season opens. I am an archery buff and you will see many tips on the sport in the coming months.
Aside from all that keep in mind the January meeting is coming up fast, January 9th. Sig Sauer is going to be the guest speaker with demonstrations and new product displays. There will also be raffles, club news and the usual rock concert dinner.
Dinner is posted @ 5:30 and the meeting comes to order at 6:30. I usually try and have the chow earlier, around 4:30- 5:00 to make sure the early birds get fed.
See you all then,
